When we receive an order for a new part, we design the mold and jig (the thing that holds the part in place). Depending on the shape of the part, we use both 3DCAD and 2DCAD to create a blueprint, which is then used to manufacture the mold and jig.
Since molds and jigs wear out during use, it is also important to maintain them. This greatly affects the accuracy of parts. It is only when the molds and jigs are in perfect condition that we are able to mass produce high-precision parts.
Trial and error is necessary when creating a mold with a part shape that has never been handled in-house or with a special material. I felt that I had matured as a designer when I was able to create a mold that could withstand mass production from the drawings I had created and was able to bring it to completion while operating the processing machine myself. I was able to take on the challenge thanks to my boss, who encouraged me by saying, “It’s okay to fail, so let’s try!”

The characteristics of the processing machine and the material it is made of affect the accuracy of the processing. When designing, we must take various conditions into consideration, otherwise we will not be able to create molds and jigs to produce parts with high accuracy. This is difficult without experience and knowledge, but that is why it is a challenging part of the job. I would like to pass on the know-how I have cultivated over the years to my junior workers.

I want to master pipe bending.
We use press machines to bend pipe parts for automobile-related components. This is a job that does not allow for any scratches or dents on the surface, not to mention maintaining a high degree of accuracy in the bending angles of the pipes.
Daily cleaning, preparation, and maintenance are essential because the dies needed to make the parts can wear out, which can skew machining accuracy, and oil contamination on the machines can adversely affect machining.
In order to mass-produce parts that meet specifications, it is important to understand the quirks of press machines and dies, which inevitably requires experience and the use of all five senses. It is not a simple task, which is why it is so rewarding.
Since automotive parts require high performance and safety, there are only a limited number of companies that can manufacture them. When I see cars and motorcycles on the street that use parts I have been involved in, I feel proud to know that my work is contributing to society.

My juniors have helped me grow.
When I first joined the company, I did what I was told without thinking, and I think my understanding of the company’s business and work was limited. Then, little by little, more junior employees came on board, and I became in a position to teach them, which changed my awareness and led to my growth. I think I became able to convey information about press machines, parts, work procedures, etc. to others by putting it into “words” rather than “feeling”.
Another good thing about this company is that it is easy to keep a good balance between on and off duty. You can take weekends off, and you can take large consecutive holidays in combination with national holidays.
I like to move around, so I play basketball with my friends, which I have continued to do in club activities throughout junior high and high school. During my job search, when I visited the factory for a company tour, I saw senior workers quietly conducting inspections and thought, “This seems like a good fit for me. I myself am the type of person who likes to work quietly.
I am currently in charge of inspecting parts before shipment. I check to see if the parts are free of scratches and dirt, and if they are finished according to the proper dimensions. Since the shipping date of parts is set, I have to complete a set number of inspections within a set time frame.
Automobile and motorcycle related parts are related to safety and performance, so we need to make sure that our products properly meet the customer’s requirements. Since we are checking them in the final process, we cannot afford to make any mistakes. That is why I was very anxious when I was entrusted with inspections by myself for the first time. But after overcoming that anxiety, I have grown as a person.
In inspecting the parts I am in charge of, I have gone from being the one who asks for instructions to the one who gives them. Even now, I value the daily accumulation of my work and am increasing my knowledge of parts and improving my inspection techniques.

A culture of mutual help makes for a safe place to work.
What I value in my work is “teamwork”. I often work alone, but I need the support of others when the shipping dates of the parts I am in charge of overlap. I am in charge of cutting metal materials using NC machine tools. The machine operates by reading a program, so there is no direct human operation. I focus on making sure that the machine is set up properly so that it can process correctly as ordered, and on managing safety.
In order to maintain the high quality of our products, we cannot simply rely on machines. We regularly measure the accuracy of parts after machining with a caliper (measuring instrument) to confirm that the dimensions are correct.
Since chips are generated during cutting and can interfere with cutting or cause injury, frequent cleaning and inspection are essential. The morning begins with careful cleaning of the machine by removing chips and wiping oil, and inspection to ensure that machining can be performed normally. Careful preparation is essential for the production of high-quality parts.
It is also important to follow the correct procedures and work steadily. We do what needs to be done without neglecting the basics. The accumulation of these efforts is the source of HOHSEI INDUSTRIAL’s trust.

Operating five processing machines with safety first
Different machine tools have different performance, and the tools and settings used vary depending on the metal material and program. Therefore, it is necessary to learn the setups for safe operation of machine tools.
I am in charge of about five machine tools by myself, so it is difficult to remember the setup procedures, but I felt I had grown when I could do it without hesitation.
As my year progressed, I had to teach more junior staff. Since I could only communicate what I understood, I was able to consolidate my knowledge by relearning myself again.

If Hohsei-industrial were to be represented by a single kanji character, it would be “前”. This is because we have a corporate culture of always challenging ourselves to move forward. I joined the company three years ago, but much of what we do within the company has evolved.

For those who are just starting out, there may be a lot to learn at first, but rest assured that there are people who will take good care of you. I was an electrical engineering graduate with zero knowledge or experience in machining, but with the support of my seniors, I was able to become a full-fledged employee. Aiming to become an inspection professional entrusted with the final process.
I am in charge of inspecting pipe parts to be assembled into automobile and motorcycle engines to ensure that they are properly made according to customer requirements.
Since the quantity to be delivered to the customer is fixed, we must inspect a fixed quantity of parts within a fixed period of time, checking the dimensions and degree of curvature of the parts, looking for surface defects, and so on. This is a responsible job, because if there is an omission in the inspection, the parts will be delivered to the customer as they are.
Since there are thousands to tens of thousands of parts to be inspected, I had a hard time completing the inspection within a reasonable time when I was not used to it. Nevertheless, I gradually grasped the key points of inspections, and when I was able to do them at the same pace as veteran workers, I felt I had grown.

I want to expand my scope of defense as an inspection professional.
The most nerve-wracking moment for me so far was when I became a full-fledged inspector and was assigned to inspect a new part. Since it was a new part, I had to devise my own inspection methods. I was able to identify which parts were prone to defects and establish inspection procedures, which gave me confidence.
Even now, we are all thinking about how we can improve the quality of inspections and protect the quality of HOHSEI INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD.. I would like to increase the number of parts I can be in charge of and become able to inspect them perfectly, so that I can be someone everyone can rely on.
In my private life, I visit roadside stations in and outside of the prefecture on my days off. I have visited 22 out of 34 roadside stations in Fukushima Prefecture, where our factory is located. Sometimes I go as far as Ibaraki and Tochigi. I am off on Saturdays and Sundays, and can take as many as 10 consecutive vacations, including GW and year-end and New Year holidays, so it is easy for me to make plans to conquer roadside stations.
